Yi Wang, Ph.D., is a U.S. Patent Agent and patent holder at ZYL Law Firm. Dr. Wang concentrates on drafting, prosecuting, and managing patent portfolios for clients ranging from startups to multinational enterprises. He combines over five years of U.S. patent prosecution experience with a research-driven technical background to deliver practical, enforceable IP protection.

Dr. Wang earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Geophysics from SUNY Stony Brook and his B.S. in Geophysics from Peking University, grounding his patent work in rigorous scientific training.

Prosecution & PTAB Experience

Dr. Wang prepares office action responses, appeal briefs, and PTAB AIA trial submissions, with particular experience in distributed database systems, computer technology, and software. He partners closely with inventors and in-house counsel to align filings with product roadmaps and commercialization goals.

Industry & Technical Background

Before joining ZYL, Dr. Wang served as a patent agent at an international law firm and held hands-on technical roles as a data scientist, assistant chief developer, and staff geophysicist at CGG, ConocoPhillips, Sinopec Tech, Seismic PPS (NNPC-IDSL), and Geophysical Insights. This multidisciplinary experience informs his work on complex technologies such as AI/ML, AR/VR, autonomous vehicles, semiconductors, telecommunications, and energy systems.
