About Tao Wang

Tao Wang is a seasoned expert in cross-border intellectual property, advising Chinese companies expanding abroad and multinational companies operating in China on global IP strategy, portfolio management and dispute resolution. He previously served at GE Global Patent Operation and later spent a decade as the head of the overseas business division at a renowned Chinese IP firm, where he built extensive experience managing multi-jurisdictional IP programs.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Wang has handled more than 5,000 overseas IP filing and maintenance matters and managed hundreds of overseas patent portfolio matters for clients across a wide range of industries. He has a deep command of the IP protection systems, examination procedures and enforcement routes of the U.S., the EU and other major economies, and is particularly effective at identifying IP exposure and designing actionable protection plans ahead of critical business events such as IPOs, cross-border M&A and overseas market entry.

Fluent in both Chinese and English and experienced in coordinating counsel across jurisdictions, Mr. Wang has served Fortune 500 companies such as Apple, Microsoft and Disney, as well as leading Chinese enterprises including CATL, iFlytek, Kingsoft, Lianjia and Thundersoft. He maintains a mature network of local counsel across the United States, Europe, Southeast Asia and Latin America.

In addition, Mr. Wang is frequently invited to provide professional training on overseas IP protection for government trade departments and large corporations, earning him a distinguished reputation in the industry.
